Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian Towage & Transport Sdn Bhd (MTT) has awarded the construction of 2 (two) units of 30 meter Harbour Tugboats to Port Shipyard & Engineering Sdn Bhd (PSE).
The contract for the construction of both vessels is estimated to be worth RM 30.2 million and construction of both vessels is estimated to take 12 months.
With a length of 30 meters and breadth of 10 meters, both tugs will be powered by two 3,500 hp Daihatsu engines giving the vessels bollard pull strength of 50 tons. Twin Shottel propellers will allow maximum manoeuvrability within the tight harbour waters of the Tebrau Strait.
MTT’s fleet currently consists of 7 harbour tugboats, 5 pilot boats and 2 mooring boats operating in Pasir Gudang, Labuan and Kemaman. The 2 new vessels are planned to be stationed primarily in Pasir Gudang.
