Port Klang: After almost 8 months under construction, Port Shipyard & Engineering Sdn Bhd (PSE) can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the progress for the construction of the 2 (two) units of 33m harbour tugboats for Malaysian Towage & Transport Sdn Bhd (MTT) is still right on schedule.
Since May 2010, PSE has been working around the clock to meet the agreed milestones and strict classification requirements. At this moment in time, most of the vessels’ structure are complete including the hull & hull fittings. Even piping & electrical works are more than 50% complete. All that remains are mostly equipment installation such as the pumps, motors, cooler, generators, etc.
“There is still a fair amount of work to be completed but we are confident that despite several setbacks faced, both vessels will be completed in time if not ahead of schedule”, said Mr K. Madhava Rao, Project Manager of PSE.
Construction of the vessels commenced in May 2010 and both vessels are expected to be launched in April 2011.
